We are very excited to have Yu-Han Hsu, who graduated from the Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics PhD Program in May 2018. Her Advisor was Joel Hirschhorn and her thesis was titled “Developing Computational Methods for Analyzing Metabolomics Data and Applications to Study Obesity”.
A heartfelt congratulations to Heiko Horn and April Kim for both having platform presentations chosen from abstracts at this year’s ASHG conference. Heiko will be presenting his follow up work on NetSig, and April will be speaking about the BINe schizophrenia project, in collaboration with Kevin Eggan Lab. Congratulations again!
Kasper recently completed his Executive MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He has spent the last 20 months mastering quantitative general management skills in academia to benefit the scientific community. We’re very proud of you, congratulations Kasper!
Our warmest congratulations to Fatma who, as part of Stanley Center collaboration led by Ben Deverman’s group, was one of the winners of this year’s Shark Tank competition at the Broad Institute. Her project aims to use artificial intelligence to develop a next generation of gene therapy vectors. We’re very excited to see your project take off! Congrats Fatma!
Kasper presented a talk titled “From genetic risk variants to convergent protein networks—An integrative approach to elucidate the causal molecular mechanisms of schizophrenia” at the 31st annual meeting on The Biology of Genomes held in Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.
Kasper chaired a Genetics and Analytics Advisory Panel at Biogen aiming to bring genomic and analytical approaches to drug target identification and validation in neurological diseases. On the panel was Ben Neale (Harvard, MGH, the Broad Institute), Sarah Teichman (Wellcome Trust Genome Institute, co-Chair of the Organizing Committee of the Human Cell Atlas), Anshul Kundaje (Stanford University), Soumya Raychaudhuri (Harvard University and BWH), and Emma Lundberg (Stanford University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology).
Kasper recently celebrated his 10 years of service at Massachusetts General Hospital. From his post doctoral training to his current position as Associate Professor of Surgery and Medicine, it’s hard to believe it’s already been 10 years! Here is to many more years! Congratulations boss!!
April, who joined the Lage Lab in August 2015, has recently accepted a full scholarship to Computational Biology PhD program at Johns Hopkins University. She looks forward to continuing working with the Lage Lab from her new position at Hopkins and we wish her the best of luck!
Kasper presented the group’s work on BINe Autism, led by Kalliopi Tsafou and Greta Pintacuda from Kevin Eggan’s group at the SFARI meeting. Great work everyone!
